Newsflash, the UK is a small island off the coast of a superpower; we are de facto governed by EU standards even if Westminster doesn't get a say any more.

A tip though: take care of your neck for a few days; when I had my long hair cut off (I could sit on mine!) I got TERRIBLE neck pain for a couple of weeks because of the change in what muscles I was having to use to hold my head straight.
