They live! #ShezzaSpuds 2026 are go! These are the Maris Pipers. The Blues are only now looking ready to plant. Something I won’t have time for until next week.

I’ve topped up the soil levels in the two original #ShezzaSpuds bags, and planted the chitted Blues in the third and final bag. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with them all. Like last year, these aren’t specially bought seed potatoes, just leftovers from groceries that were starting to sprout.

#ShezzaSpuds continue to grow. I think I heard one of them mutter “Gronda! Gronda!” but I’m not sure.

First bag of #ShezzaSpuds dug up this morning. I was grinning the whole time - it's like treasure hunting in your own garden.

Harvested the second #ShezzaSpuds plant today, and look! Twice as many spuds as I got off the first plant. Now if only I knew why this was.

I forgot to add this pic to my #ShezzaSpuds thread. These little green globes are the (kinda poisonous) potato berries I found on the second plant I was harvesting. I briefly toyed with keeping them for planting. And then I learnt they should have been riper before picking; and I’d need to soak them to release the seeds, plant them next year, harvest the spuds, and save the spuds to plant the year after to get any sort of harvest. Think I’ll stick to chitting veg bag spuds next year.
