Did I pick too many? Can you have too many flowers?
Flowers always cheer me up. I love zinnias and grew these from last year's seeds.
Happy weekend all!

Seitan vegan pieces ready for cooling and then cooking with my yogurt tofu mushroom meal. Or just grilling! Can't wait, they already smell so good.

I think I chose the wrong book to listen to at the moment. There's enough to feel bad about without reading such history.
"The Underground Railroad" by Colson Whitehead. Well written. Too well.
Returning it unfinished.

Rupert was such a special cat and our first Cornish Rex. 2002-2019 We still miss him.
He was the cat we didn't want! We specially wanted a female, solid colour (brown or black or grey). But the minute we saw this tiny squirming red tiger-marked tabby male kitten, we knew he was ours!
He was not only a wonderful friend and companion, full of character, but when we took him to his only cat show at 8 months old, he won his championship and every other prize going and the hearts of the judges and all who saw him! He then quit competing so as not to demoralize the other cats. He was kind in that way, too.
Here he was getting his championship https://zeroes.ca/@elliek/116268192742976754

Badger and Ping think there's nothing better than a cat tree in front of a sunny window.
Happy Caturday to everyone who celebrates. And have a great Saturday, whether you do or don't!
Hugs to all from us here.

I got to talk to my dear young Iranian friend for almost an hour yesterday. It was such a joy to see her lovely face and hear her reassuring me that she and her family really are okay.

A beautiful monarch butterfly spent some time flying around the marsh milkweed we planted 2 years ago. Such a joy to see.

This pretty coneflower (echinacea), left over from my patch of wildflowers that is almost taken over by common milkweed, was discovered by a leaf cutter bee, late this afternoon.
Simple pleasures.

Have you ever seen anything like this? Maybe. But it's completely new to me.
Really look at it.
Isn't it exquisite? Check out the detail by zooming in.
These were all over the ground when we stopped at Kingsport Beach on our bike ride.
It's just such a gorgeous design, at first I thought this was part of a bracelet that had broken and been left on the picnic table. But too beautiful! I couldn't stop looking at it.

Such beauty carrying on without any need for me to interfere. There are bees of various kinds in there.
Have a lovely day, friends.

Afternoon walk with sound effects.
Milkweed with bees, crows, American redstart, chestnut sided warbler and ravens. Such a screaming conversation going on with those birds. Like Monty Python.

If I subscribed to everything that wants me to... We basically wouldn't eat.
The BBC News app AND the news website are both now only viewable in Canada and the US to subscribers.
Nice. (Not.) Uninstall.
Happily, there are other news outlets (and also archive.is where I can read them anyway, if I care to.)
