A state of emergency was declared by the District of Summerland just after 10:30 p.m. PT Friday due to the rapidly growing Bald Range wildfire. Around 20,000 people have been ordered to evacuate in the area as a result of the fire.

The B.C. Wildfire Service has attributed the "vast majority" of the 100+ new 🔥 #BCwildfires to 4,000 🌩️lightning strikes on Fri July 17th.

This B.C. Summer seemed to be a relief -- until last Friday's rolling ⛈️ thunder & lighting yielding 100 more fires.
Not surprised of any correlation or cause by climate change given increasing trend of intensity & frequency of wildfires & lighting storms.
Ongoing issues wrt potential water pollution and sleeper fires (aka zombie fires).
