Here’s two of my juvenile free-tailed batties doing practice flappies to strengthen their flight muscles while also working on their interpersonal communications 🤭 Volume up for playful #BatsInBlankets chirps.(well… ON blankets again this week) and featuring one of their roosting plushies that I call Lobster Mountain.

This velvety little bub, a free-tailed bat baby (Tadarida brasiliensis), has been in my care for a couple of weeks now along with a few other babies from his roost, all only a couple of hours or days old. They are working on their gains and becoming ever more curious about what’s going on around them. 🥰 I hope everyone had a good #Baturday that left you as comfy as my #BatsInBlankets 🖤🦇

Happy #Baturday from this eepy floof-bean! This is one of the two orphaned infant seminole bats currently in my care. I haven’t been posting much, because orphaned bat season is pretty all-consuming. In my corner of the globe, it last from May through the end of summer. This is broken up into several waves, broadly by genus/family. Thank you for the gentle nudges I’ve gotten that there is still a world outside of my wee belfry. 😅 May you all be as comfy as my tiny #BatsInBlankets. [Disclaimer because someone is gonna @ me: Don’t try this at home. I’m licensed, have specialised training, and am thoroughly vaccinated. Also, bats would make terrible pets. Etc.]

Happy #Baturday! I have an extra special introduction this week. 🥹 Please meet Una. She is this season’s first orphaned bat, and she is the very first neonate I’ve rehabbed. Una’s origin story is murky and sad but I will post that down thread behind a CW. #BatsInBlankets #BatsInMyBelfry
