One of the things I’ll always love about my upbringing is my folks provided exposure to different types of music; while they didn’t always particularly care for the rock and roll I’d end up listening to, I wasn’t prevented by them to do so. That said, the evening’s “live” selection on deck, one of those classic album cuts from Christie Hynde and the Pretenders, here with Dave Grohl from a couple years ago at Glastonbury. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#ThePretendershttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3IMwmTLkq1g&ra=m

There was so much more to this album than the classic “The Boys Are Back In Town.” Which anyone who listened to my album rock airshift years ago would have discovered. Because I had no playlist - it was free form album oriented rock. I’d do it again in a fuckin heartbeat. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Jailbreakhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fMdmjoAB-5Q&ra=m

A little more Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey on deck - check. Fuck it - some more Tull - check. My sanity - questionable. 😁 #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Benefithttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NyLPX-YhpLo&ra=m

A favorite from The Who on deck and another of those album cuts I loved playing at the first radio station gig. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#TheWhoByNumbershttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a4xjr9v5ehk&ra=m

Well, yah! It IS Saturday, after all. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#LedZeppelinllhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=32KKSF5Mbmo&list=RD32KKSF5Mbmo&start_radio=1&pp=oAcB&ra=m

Dead silence on deck with the exception of an owl in a tree line somewhere here in the yard. A perfect setting for more Floyd. Loved playing this one at the first radio station gig and so did some of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad dudes who’d call me to let me know. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Meddlehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=raV_A8YcBu0&ra=m

I have three Howard Miller clocks in the living room; a 78th anniversary grandfather clock, a 59th anniversary Regulator one of THE coolest, most beautiful people in my life gave me and a mantle clock I picked up at a yard sale for about $10 during the 90s and there are those moments, especially here on deck on pleasant evenings such as this, when they chime at the same time and remind me of this classic. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#TheDarkSideOfTheMoonhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=80LhtHY_fHw&ra=m

I love these videos of School Of Rock students kickin’ out the fuckin jams. This bunch absolutely nails this Head East classic and the kid on the cowbell (that could be an album title) stays with it. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#FlatAsAPancakehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4RJvj5HZai8&ra=m

A staple for me when I was doing album rock radio in the mid 80s; it’s a pity I don’t hear it more on the different rock stations and Sirius channels these days because, as far as I’m concerned, it’s gotta be among the best tunes Joe Walsh has ever been involved with. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#RidesAgain https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fy1iL01NjZo&ra=m

Question: can you follow that Sabbath with Warren Zevon? My answer: Fuck YES! #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#ExcitableBoyhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F2HH7J-Sx80&ra=m

And now, for something a little different on deck. Kinda. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#ChildrenOfTheSunRevisitedhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_YL7ALghfi8&ra=m

The bourbon’s good out here on deck. And this offering from the late Ronnie Montrose doesn’t suck, either. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Montrosehttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_B2XJsKUtjQ&ra=m

Jack White segue into Uriah Heep? Don’t mind if I do. Actually, playing these two songs on the radio has just been added to my bucket list. I should buy a radio station. Format would be album rock, 24/7, 365. Dammit. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#TheMagiciansBirthdayhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i_x1lWvrDEc&ra=m

You’d never know with the tuneage cranked it’s just li’l ol’ me out here. I hope the neighbors don’t mind. 😉 #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Bostonhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bDI-AdnIK08&ra=m

Kind of a “Salute to ‘78” type thing out here on deck; the first Dire Straits album was released at around the same time as The Cars debut that June. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#DireStraitshttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ-51XBmRKM&ra=m

It’s a cool, cloudy evening on deck with a tune from Mahogany Rush I discovered in the early 80s when I lived in Minneapolis and later, played it on the radio. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#WorldAnthem#CurrentMood If you have felt the same as I Then you know what I mean Just keep on going don't you cry It won't solve anything Don't take my words too light I'm saying what I know is right Stick to your guns and fight Oh Yeah! See I'm stuck In My Ways https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GH4CW7VtmJE&ra=m

A drop or two but no storm yet. I’ll keep rockin, doncha know. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Bostonhttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ42CLtr7Jg&pp=0gcJCWQCo7VqN5tD&ra=m

When I did the morning drive airshift at my third radio station, both AM and FM sides signed on at 0600 hours with news from the ABC Information Network. Being the rebel I was, before the news would come on, I’d play this number each day leading into it. I never told the owner it was Black Sabbath. That old fuck didn’t need to know. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#BlackSabbathVol4 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RsBrAFq3tHo&ra=m

So relevant to today. Mr. Peart, you are missed. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#AFarewellToKings You can be the captain And I will draw the chart Sailing into destiny Closer To The Heart https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WPeBwVXgR8I&ra=m

The evening’s “live” selection on deck; the other “Angel” in the Fleetwood Mac repertoire. #MusicOfMastodon#70sAlbumRock#Tusk And to those that I love Like a ghost through a fog Like a charmed hour and a haunted song And the Angel Of my dreams Angel Of my dreams You said you feel good I said it's funny that you understood I knew you would When you were good, baby Mmm, you were very good https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lw9t7LLxgyc&ra=m
